When accounting documents are posted in Central Finance, business mapping is used to harmonize the master data in the documents. The master data as well as configurable data must be mapped. This is necessary because most of the times the values in source system and central finance system gets changed.
Types of mappings
- Key Mappings – Master data mappings like Customers, Vendors, GL Accounts, Cost centers etc
- Value Mappings – Configurable Objects mappings like Company codes, controlling area, plants etc
- Cost Objects mapping – This is taken care by Cost Object mapping framework where the short living cost objects like Internal Order, Process Order, Production orders etc are created and mapped in CFIN based on the cardinality of 1:1 or N:1
- COPA mappings – Mappings of COPA characteristics
- Enhanced mappings – Mappings which are based on customer/project requirements will fall under this category
Mappings can be maintained by loading the template in transaction FINS_CFIN_MAP_MANAGE
- Display Mappings – Will display the existing mappings for an object and selected source system
- Generate Template – Will generate template based on object
- Upload Mappings – Here mappings can be uploaded. Option of test run is available
- Download mappings – All mappings for the selected object can be downloaded
- Delete mappings – Template needs to be uploaded and anything uploaded will be deleted
Mapping Actions
Mapping Actions are in combination of source system + Object and decides how that object will be converted in central Finance.
- Keep Data: Reuse the original data from the source system in the Central Finance system
- Mapping Obligatory: Must be mapped in the Central Finance system, otherwise the system will raise an error
- Map if Possible: the system will try to do the mapping, but if there is no map existing then the system will reuse the original data from the source system and no error will be raised
- Clear Data: Fields of this kind area are always cleared
